Witchampton CofE First School

‘Live a life of love, just as Christ loved us.’

Ephesians 5:2

A very warm welcome to Witchampton Church of England First School – a small school with loving hearts, rooted in its community, where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

At Witchampton, our Christian vision, ‘Live a life of love’, is at the heart of everything we do. Our values of Love, Courage and Inspiration shape the way we learn, behave and care for one another. They help our children to grow academically, socially and spiritually, developing the confidence, knowledge and character they need for the next stage of their lives.

We are incredibly proud of our warm, nurturing and inclusive school. As a small rural village school, we know our children and families extremely well and celebrate the unique contribution that every child brings to our community. We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring that every child, whatever their starting point or individual need, has the opportunity to thrive.

Our curriculum is ambitious, carefully planned and enriched with memorable experiences. We want our children to develop secure knowledge and skills, a love of reading and learning, curiosity about the world around them and the confidence to ask questions, explore ideas and challenge themselves. Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on children's personal development, spirituality, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

Learning at Witchampton extends far beyond the classroom. Through outdoor learning, play, sport, creativity, trips, visitors, collective worship and opportunities to contribute to school and community life, we aim to give our children experiences that inspire them and help them discover their own strengths and interests.

We are proud that Ofsted judged Witchampton to be Good in all areas in March 2023, recognising the distinctive ethos of our school:

‘Witchampton’s ethos of being a “small school with a big heart – making a difference” is reflected in the actions of staff and pupils.’

Our dedicated staff team works closely with families because we know that children achieve their very best when school and home work together. We are also fortunate to be at the heart of a wonderfully supportive village and church community, which plays an important part in the life of our school.

Witchampton Church of England First School is part of Initio Learning Trust, enabling us to benefit from strong partnerships with other schools while retaining the individual character, relationships and community spirit that make Witchampton so special.
